Providing Photo Reference

I draw from photos provided by my clients.

The ideal reference photos have good detail and lighting; the higher and sharper the resolution, the better. However, if you only have low-resolution photos and it's a dearly departed kitty, I can work around that.

At least one photo should show the overall pose you’d prefer, whether it's sitting, standing, or lying down. I also need one or more pictures of the face with an alert expression, that shows off the markings and the eye color. The more photos I have to draw from, the better, especially if there’s no perfect single photo and I need to use details from several.

If taking new photos, position the camera down at your cat's level to get the best proportions. Avoid harsh lighting from above that causes dark shadows. Also, indoor lights can give an unwanted yellow tint to your cat's colors. Instead, try to use soft natural lighting from a window, or go outside. If outside, choose an overcast rather than sunny day so there aren't any hard shadows.

Also send candid photos from throughout your cat's life, too, so I can include those in the video as I’m narrating your cat’s story.

To share photos, you can send them to beverly at ilovetodrawcats dot com, or put them in a  Google photo album and share it with me.
